GMusic 2 for iOS released – 1 day discount too

GMusic is a Google Music client for iOS in case you hadn’t come across it before. It has just received a major overhaul in both back end and user interface, with the new UI being released as dedicated iOS7 app – GMusic 2. Existing users will benefit from the back updates in the existing app.

The new UI looks beautiful in dark grey/black with orange highlights. It has been designed specifically around iOS7, and perfectly matches the new flat look.

Sign into the app and you can access anything from your Google Music library and it also provides access to the new All Access service as well. You can browse by Artist, Album, Genre, Songs or Playlists, as well as Search function. Tracks can be streamed or stored for offline listening and there is also an Equaliser thrown in too. Last.fm scrobbling and lockscreen controls round off the functionality – in all, a comprehensive spec.

It’s a great Google Music client that has been brought bang up to date with iOS7 and All Access – and for today only its discounted to 69p to celebrate its launch.

iPhone 5c already selling at a discount in China

11:15 PM

Apple may never have had any intention of selling a budget smartphone but its iPhone 5c is already on its way to becoming one in China. Caijing reports that China’s largest business-to-consumer retail platform has slashed the price of the 5c from 4488 yuan (or around USD $733) to 3699 yuan (USD $604). Caijing says that the discount comes amid weak early sales for the 5c, which has been eclipsed in the high-end Chinese market by the iPhone 5s. The general consensus among analysts so far has been that Apple’s iPhone 5c was not priced aggressively enough to appeal to most consumers in emerging markets. If the device keeps getting the discount treatment from other outlets this early after its release then it seems that conventional wisdom will have been right.

Oppo introduces 10% student discount on the Find 5

It’s no secret that we’re big fans of Oppo here at Coolsmartphone. Whilst we wait for more news on the Oppo N1, Oppo’s European retailer, Oppo Style, have announced that they are going to be offering a 10% discount to students purchasing the Oppo Find 5.

All you need to do to qualify for the promotion is either have an .edu or .ac.uk email address. Alternatively, you can scan a copy of your student ID – in both cases, the proof has to be sent to [email protected] with your full name and the email address of your Oppo Style account. Once the information has been verified, they’ll send you an email with a voucher code for 10% off. It’s as simple as that!

For further information, go to the Oppo Style support page. We reviewed the Oppo Find 5 earlier this year here.
