A M8 HTC or a 2, equipped with a 5″ display, 800 Snapdragon and Android 4.4?

Samsung to release curved display on a smartphone

 

OLED (Organic LED) televisions with curved screens were first demonstated at CES in 2012 and the technology has hit the market this year for anyone with curved walls to buy.

Samsung have confirmed that they will be releasing a smartphone based on the same technology with a plastic curved OLED display.

Speaking at the recent Galaxy Note 3 event, DJ Lee, Samsung’s head of strategic marketing for mobile said:

“We plan to introduce a smartphone with a curved display in South Korea in October”

It is thought that the new curved smartphones will form part of Samsung’s Active range.

This could of course be the first step in the development of foldable or wearable smartphones and could well lead to a whole new generation of devices that are completely different in style to those that we currently use on a daily basis.

BlackBerry on Wednesday finally took the wraps off of the last new BlackBerry 10 phone expected to debut in 2013. BGR exclusively published the first ever photo of the BlackBerry Z30, then thought to be called the A10, so the handset shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. The fact that it’s yet another high-end phone from BlackBerry without an entry-level offering in sight is still a bit surprising though, even though we already knew that as well. Key BlackBerry Z30 specs include a 5-inch Super AMOLED display, a 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, microSDXC support, an 8-megapixel camera and the new BlackBerry 10.2 operating system. The Z30 will begin rolling out globally in mid-October and a U.S. launch will take place ahead of the holidays. Pricing has not yet been announced.
