The Google Play Music app has received a bit of a refresh this morning. Download it and you’ll get KitKat SD card support, which gives offline music capability.
Not only that, but there’s the ability to shuffle songs in the “All Access” feature and Google have made it easy to share links of songs, artists and albums to those special online friends.

The updates just keep on coming from Google. Along with the Quickoffice update, Google Maps is now undergoing a staged rollout, this time to version 7.3
The update contains a few UI changes and several under the hood fixes.
Firstly, the notification window now has more detail than previously, the detail includes time to destination, distance to destination and estimated arrival time.
Secondly, the look of the cards has been updated with slight UI changes bringing less bloated cards with the text being condensed from 4 lines into 2.
Other changes are based around the UI on the review system and around the addition of Google Analytics for internal usage reporting.
As ever with Google apps, the rollout is a staged one so if you haven’t received it yet, don’t panic, it’s on it’s way!
Skype have just updated their tablet app for Android. It’ll now allow a much better experience including a higher resolution video, something very handy if you use video chat for work or for family use.
As well as increasing the resolution and a new UI, Skype have also addressed some bug fixes too..

Today, we’re proud to bring you Skype for Android, version 4.4. When we launchedversion 4.0 in July, we promised to bring the new UI experience to tablets too. Not only are we bringing it to Android tablets, but to the Kindle Fire HD and Kindle Fire HDX tablets as well.
Tablet users will now see a new interface that puts conversations first, displaying your most recent calls and chats. You will also enjoy all the quality and performance advancements that the total rewrite of version 4.0 brought to phone users.
All Android users will enjoy improved video call quality in version 4.4. With good network conditions, you’ll experience up to four times the resolution of previous versions, with enhanced clarity and frame rates. Kindle Fire HD and HDX users will still enjoy hardware accelerated HD quality video.

The release of iOS 7 saw a whole new visual style for Apples devices. This of course means that apps that previously fit in with the design styling now will need an update to fit in with the new styles.
One of the first third party apps to see an update is the official Facebook app which today sees a new release which has ”a new look designed with iOS 7 in mind.”
With Facebook 6.5, it’s now easier to navigate the app—you can quickly switch from News Feed to your friend requests, Messages or Notifications; just tap along the bottom of the screen. You can also tap the “More tab” on the bottom right to see options like your Timeline, groups, events and more. In addition, the app looks right at home within iOS 7 with new design elements including a translucent bar at the top of the app which will change dynamically as you scroll through different photos and posts.
The update will be available from the App store later today.
Firefox Browser for Android has a tough fight on its hands. What with Google Chrome shipping on most Android devices these days.
